About 579 officers of the Nigerian army were court-martialled some offenses. The incident occurred at the army headquarters garrison and 81 division in Lagos State.
Sani Usman, the acting director of army public relations confirmed this to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said that there are currently two separate court martials going on at the army headquarters garrison and 81 division, Nigerian army, with a view to ensuring quick dispensation of justice, discipline and professionalism.
He also said that anybody who runs foul of the law will have the authorities determine that the gravity of the offence cannot be tried summarily will have to go to court.
