iPhone users can now send GIF images on Whatsapp

WhatsApp now lets iPhone users send GIFs, catching up with rival messaging services like iMessage and Facebook Messenger; and maybe Whatsapp will do better.

GIFs – or the Graphics Interchange Format – are short looming animated images without sound, typically used on the internet to convey a reaction or various reactions. Popular in the web’s earlier days, the rise of social media has seen the humble GIF make a comeback – Twitter, Facebook and iMessage now support them.

Now, they have been added to WhatsApp for iOS, allowing you to send overblown reaction GIFs to your heart’s content.
